Launch of the EU co-funded ECO-CRUISING FU_TOUR project: boosting managerial, innovative, blue, green, and digital skills of tourism WestMed SMEs
ECO-CRUISING FU_TOUR aims to offer innovative routes and solutions paving the pathway towards Net- Zero for Cruise and Coastal Areas by introducing a brand-new experience for our target groups to cruising, combining smart (digital) and eco-sustainable offering.
On September 23rd and 24th, the kick-off meeting of the ECO-CRUISING FU_TOUR project was held in Treviglio, Italy.
The ECO-CRUISING FU_TOUR project is based on strong regional cooperation between WestMed countries, in line with the new Agenda for the Mediterranean, and guided by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement and the European Green Deal.
The project aims to boost managerial, innovative, blue, green, and digital skills of tourism WestMed SMEs but ultimately public and private stakeholders in charge of the promotion of EU and West European coastal and maritime destinations through specialized capacity building programme, knowledge, and tech transfer, preparing the transfer of good practices and multiplying the results. To this specific objective, the project will design eco-smart cruise packages targeting Millennials and Gen Z to offer innovative routes and solutions paving the pathway towards Net-Zero for Cruise and Coastal Areas by introducing a brand-new experience for these target groups to cruising, combining smart (digital) and eco-sustainable offering.
During this 2-day online meeting, the partners had the opportunity to present themselves, explain their role in the project, and most importantly their vision throughout the implementation phase. In addition, the participants discussed in detail ECO-CRUISING's objective, expected results, timeline, implementation, and methodology. In addition, the consortium had the chance to revise thoroughly the list of Activities and outputs as well as their contribution and roles.
X-23 The Innovation Bakery (Italy) is the Lead Beneficiary of this project, whose duration is 28 months. The other partners are Agenzia Nazionale del Turismo (Italy), Tanger City Port Management Company (Morocco), Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Spain), Green Evolution (Greece), Cyprus Marine & Maritime Institute (Cyprus), Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tunisia (Tunisia), Leancubator (Algeria), Celestyal Ship Management (Cyprus).
