On January 31st, 2024, CMMI, Consortium partner of EU ECO-CRUISING, made a significant contribution to the SAFETY4SEA Limassol Forum held at the Columbia Venue Centre of Columbia Plaza in Limassol, Cyprus.
The 5th SAFETY4SEA Limassol Forum was a full day event that took place on Wednesday 31st of January 2024 at the Columbia Venue Centre of Columbia Plaza, Limassol, Cyprus, emphasising on developing management strategies and appropriate skill sets to prepare maritime professionals for the shifting landscape that lays ahead.
Dr. Anastasios Hovardas, Senior Associate Scientist at CMMI, took the stage to unveil the Capacity Building Programme developed by the ECO-CRUISING FU_TOUR consortium. This programme aims to systematically structure and create tailored for the cruise tourism sector and its intricate supply chain, with a particular emphasis on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
The program, provided free of charge, is designed to empower employees and managers with the necessary skills and competencies to navigate the industry's green transition effectively. Dr. Hovardas highlighted the importance of prioritising not only hard skills but also soft skills, recognising their pivotal role in fostering adaptability and resilience within the workforce.
Moreover, he highlighted the pressing need to cultivate a culture of self-regulation among trainees, equipping them with the ability to seamlessly integrate future technological advancements and policy changes into their professional endeavours. Through this presentation, he reaffirmed its commitment to driving sustainable innovation and excellence in the maritime sector, setting a new standard for industry-wide capacity building initiatives.
